  • Date: 10/22/2020 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Location: Virtually through Zoom

The Department of Children and Families, in partnership with the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect (NJTFCAN) and Stockton University Child Welfare Education Institute, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for this year's online skill-building webinar series, "Conversations on Race and Racism in Child Welfare." This webinar series will consist of three separate, two-hour online sessions, beginning next Friday, October 16, with thought-leaders on the topic of race and racism, and how it intersects with the work that we do at DCF. Each 2-hour session will offer 2.0 Cultural Competency Hours of Continuing Education (CE) for Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors.

Through this series of virtual events, participants will:

  • Learn about the history of race and racism in New Jersey;

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the causes and consequences of racial disparties in child welfare settings;

  • Discover how the New Jersey Department of Children and Families is responding to racial disparities in the child welfare system.

    There is no fee to participate in these online, virtual sessions and participants may choose to connect with one, some, or all three sessions.  However, in order to participate, you must register in advance. Registration instructions are available at https://stockton.edu/child-welfare-education-institute/tfcan.html.
