SC_Votes_Nov2024The 2024 General Election voting process has ended, and the Board of Elections and Clerk's Office are working to complete the tally and report out the unofficial, preliminary, incomplete resultsThese results will continue to be updated and subject to change until they are certified to the NJ Secretary of State on November 25.

September 21 – Mail-in Ballots Sent Out

The Somerset County Clerk’s Office will begin sending out mail-in ballot for the General Election to voters who have requested them. Visit our site to request a mail in ballot. Mail-in ballots may be cast before 8 p.m. on November 5, 2024  through the US Post Office, at any of the 17 drop box locations throughout the County, or by visiting the Board of Elections at 20 Grove Street in Somerville, NJ.

October 15  – Last Day to Register to Vote

Last day to register to vote for the 2024 General Election on November 5, 2024. You can register to vote online. The Somerset County Board of Elections at 20 Grove Street in Somerville will also be open until 9 p.m. on October 15 to register voters.

October 23 – Sample Ballots Mailed

The Somerset County Clerk’s Office begins mailing sample ballots to all registered voters.  Sample ballots are available online.

October 26-November 3 – Early Voting Period

In person voting at six locations throughout Somerset County will be conducted beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day from Saturday October 26 through Sunday November 3, closing at 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. Votes cast during early voting are considered complete, and there will not be an opportunity to amend them.

Eligible voters who have not requested a mail-in ballot may cast their vote during this period at any of the following locations:

  • BERNARDS TOWNSHIP
    Bernards Township Community Center Garage, 289 South Maple Ave,  Basking Ridge, NJ
  • BRIDGEWATER
    Municipal Court, 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater NJ

  • FRANKLIN
    Community Center, 505 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ

  • HILLSBOROUGH
    Municipal Building , 379 South Branch Road, Hillsborough NJ

  • MONTGOMERY
    Municipal Building, 100 Community Drive, Skillman NJ

  • NORTH PLAINFIELD
    Community Center, 614 Greenbrook Road, North Plainfield, NJ

October 29 – Last Day to Apply for Mail-In Ballot by Mail

This is the last day to apply to have a mail-in ballot sent to you through the US Mail.  Ballots may still be requested in person until 3 p.m. on Monday, November 4 at the Somerset County Clerk’s office at 20 Grove Street in Somerville.

November 4 – Last Day to Request a Mail-In Ballot in Person

Mail-in ballots may be requested in-person from the Somerset County Clerk’s office at 20 Grove Street in Somerville until 3 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024.

Mail-in ballots may be cast before 8 p.m. on November 5 through the US Post Office, at any of the 17 drop box locations throughout the County, or by visiting the Board of Elections at 20 Grove Street in Somerville, NJ.

November 5 – General ELECTION DAY

This is the final day to cast a ballot for the 2024 General Election in person or through mail-in ballot.

In-person polling places will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. A full list of Somerset County in-person polling locations for voters who have not cast an early vote or requested a mail-in ballot can be found here. Mail in ballots must be postmarked, placed in a ballot drop box, or delivered to the Board of Elections by 8 p.m. to be counted. Voters must be in line by 8 p.m. at polling places, which will remain open to accommodate these voters until they have completed casting their ballots.

November 12 – Last Day Mail-In Ballots Accepted

Mail-in ballots sent through the United States Post Office that were postmarked by 8 p.m. on November 5 and are received by November 12 will be accepted. Ballots received after this time will not be considered.

November 25 – Final Certification of Votes

Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter must certify the combined results of mail-in ballots, early voting, and in-person election day voting to the New Jersey Secretary of State by this date. Results will be posted here.
