Rev. Dr. W. Golden Carmon
Rev. Dr. Cameron, Senior Pastor of the Mount Zion A.M.E Church in New Brunswick, gives a tribute to the 18 United States Colored Troops buried in Somerville's New Cemetary. Originally from North Carolina, Rev. Dr. Carmon has served as a Pastor throughout New Jersey for over twenty years. He currently serves as the Board of Trustees Vice Chairman of the New Jersey Annual Conference, with oversite of over 85 churches.

Antoinette Montague
An internationally renowned entertainer, producer and teacher, Antoinette specializes in jazz and blues music. This past April, Antoinette was honored as a 2024 Jazz Hero by the Jazz Journalist Association.

 



 
The Importance of Remembrance

Commissioner Director Robinson will also be recognizing two locals for their contributions to remembrance in Somerset County: Kevin Chapman, a Hobbstown native, and United States Colored Troops reenactor and Davie Lyn Jones-Evans, a Somerville teacher and winner of a 2024 Somerset County History Award.


2nd Juneteenth Leadership Award Presentation
Honoring Arthur Adair
For nearly two decades, Arthur has cared for the graves of the 18 United States Colored Troops veterans buried in the New Cemetery. He has also been a community leader in Somerville for over 40 years, serving on numerous boards, committees, and commissions.
