Virginia Mastrogiovanni, County Adjuster

The County Adjuster’s Office is responsible for processing the paperwork related to the commitment of those persons with mental illness to state, county, and private psychiatric facilities.

• Schedules commitment hearings and assigns legal representation for all county residents including KROL, Megan’s Law, and Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) cases and for representation of the County of Somerset.
• Performs financial investigations to determine a county resident’s ability to pay for cost of care in state and county psychiatric hospitals and prepares court orders.
• Assists state and local law enforcement agencies by conducting mental health background searches for gun permit applications.
• Active member of the Somerset County Board of Social Services.

Due to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations, any requests that require the disclosure of patient information must be sent to the Adjuster's Office in writing, via regular mail and must accompany a completed Records Request Form (available upon request).
