OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Instructor of the EMT program and courses

Essential Functions

  • Incumbent is responsible for the delivery of course offerings in the EMT program at the Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy.
  • Position must administer the policies and procedures established by the Board of Commissioners, County Administrator, and the Director of the Emergency Services Training Academy. 
  • Position must function under the guidelines established by the laws of the State of New Jersey and the rules and specifications required by various State and Federal agencies.
  • The key challenges facing the incumbent are maintaining a thorough understanding of current information related to the instructional courses offered at ESTA and presenting these courses in compliance with County, State and Federal regulations and policies. 
  • This position reports to the EMT Program Coordinator and the Deputy Director of the Academy. 

Essential Qualifications

  • Incumbent must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an EMT.
  • Possess a valid NJ EMT card.
  • Must possess a valid CPR card.
  • Must possess a valid EMT Instructor card issued by NJ OEMS and have the endorsement of the EMT Program Coordinator. 
  • Incumbent must present at minimum a 15-minute presentation to the selection committee.
  • Upon acceptance of application and successful evaluation by the selection committee, the candidate shall assume the duties of an EMT Instructor.
