Election Clerk II

Position Summary:

Works under the general direction of the Assistant Administrator and Principal Election Clerk by performing various moderately complex duties relating to the election process and does related work as required.  This position must follow the policies and procedures established by the Administrator and/or The Board. 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Responsible for performing office work, such as computer related tasks, typing, filing and operating related office machines.
  2. Advises and assists prospective voters in the procedures and necessary paperwork to register as a voter.
  3. Enters voters and records into statewide voter registration system (SVRS) and update and maintain the accuracy of those records.
  4. Removes ineligible and deceased voters from the SVRS.
  5. Notifies ineligible voters of the proper procedures for reinstatement.
  6. Verifies voters’ signatures and records ballot numbers after an election.
  7. Prepares and packs binders along with voting machine supplies for use in election districts.
  8. Perform certain tasks related to district board worker training and assignments and with the supervision of district board worker activities on Election Day.
  9. Assists with the processing of returned sample ballots.
  10. Assists with the processing of absentee ballots and serve as member of absentee ballot committee.
  11. Serve as member of absentee ballot and provisional ballot tallying teams.
  12. Provide guidance and assistance to other staff members when needed.

 Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent or a combination of training and experience in clerical work dealing with elections and registration of voters helpful.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum direction or supervision.
  3. Computer literate.
  4. Minimum 1-2 years clerical experience.
