Jerry L. Midgette, Esq.
Election Board Administrator
Jerry L. Midgette was appointed Administrator of the Somerset County Board of Elections in June 2006. He has extensive background in election law with broad experience in the election process. He has successfully served as an election law attorney providing legal advice and representing organizations, elected officials and candidates during recounts and election contests. He served as health law counsel at the prestigious law firm of Pitney Hardin. He worked for the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services as Director of Legal & Regulatory Affairs and served as the Department’s chief legal and regulatory officer.
Prior to joining the Department of Health and Senior Services, he served as Deputy Executive Director of the New Jersey Health Care Facilities Financing Authority, where he was responsible for developing and implementing the agency’s strategic plan and assisting healthcare providers with tax-exempt bond financing. Before that, he served as senior advisor to former Governor Christine Todd Whitman. He also was a full-time Business Law Professor at Montclair State University.
He is a graduate of the Howard University School of Law, where he obtained his juris doctorate degree. He graduated cum laude from Park University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in management. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was trained as a management analyst and in electronic surveillance. He has been a member of the New Jersey Bar since 1987. He was appointed by Governor Whitman to serve as a member of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. He has served as a member of the Somerset County Open Space Advisory Committee and the Economic Development Incentive Program.
He was elected an served as President of the New Jersey Association of Election Officials for three years. Prior to being elected President, he served as the Chairman of the By-Laws Committee and Nominating Committee, as a member of the Legal and Legislative Committee and as Special Advisor to the President of the NJAEO.
