State and Federal Offices

Please visit the NJ Division of Elections for requirements and downloadable petitions.

County Offices

  • Candidates must obtain a minimum of 100 signatures (NJSA 19:23-8). 
  • We cannot notarize petitions to be filed in our office.

Municipal Offices

The minimum number of signatures varies by Municipality and Party (NJSA 19:23-8). Please view detailed list here.

County Committee

The minimum number of signatures varies by Election District and Party (NJSA 19:23-8).  Please view detailed list here.  The next elections for the Somerset County Republican Committee will be held during the June 2024 Primary, and both Democratic and Republican Committees will be up during the June 2026 Primary. 

Board of Education

Candidates must obtain a minimum of 10 signatures (NJSA 19:60-7).  The deadline this year is 4pm on July 29 (the last Monday in July).

Fire District (Hillsborough only)

Candidates must obtain a minimum of 10 signatures. The deadline this year is 4pm on July 29 (the last Monday in July).
