Somerset County residents can obtain a photo ID from the County Clerk's office.  

This ID card is available to Somerset County residents, regardless of age.  This card is NOT REAL ID compliant.  However, residents might find it useful as supplemental photo identification.

County Resident ID cards are offered in the County Clerk's office during regular business hours and during most Mobile Office events.  Appointments are encouraged but not required.

Requirements:

1) Proof of identity

Applicants must provide one of the following:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Naturalization Certification
  • Valid Passport
  • Social Security Card
  • Current NJ driver's license or MVC non-driving ID
  • Department of Defense Idenitification Card or DD214

AND

2) Proof of residency in Somerset County

Applicants must provide one of the following with their name and address on it:

• Current NJ driver’s license or MVC non-driving ID
• Current lease or rental agreement
• Utility bill (electric, water, gas, cable) dated within the last three months
• Government - issued ID such as voter registration, welfare ID
• Pay stub or W2
• Bank statement dated within the last three months
• Signed statement from a Somerset County resident with a valid government    issued photo ID who has known you for at least 2 years or official letter from a facility 
• Minors may provide a school ID and a parent or guardian’s signature.

Fee: $10 (cash, check or credit)

Expiration Date: 2 Years
