Community Services for Persons with IDD:
Advocacy, Neurodiversity and Service Environments

This workshop will focus on recognition of advocacy/self-advocacy among persons with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) and points of interaction with service providers and the various regulations within different supportive environments. Topics will include the obligations and limitations of support providers who may be assisting service consumers with IDD particularly in behavioral and physical health settings. The ability of paraprofessional staff to assist consumers, the rights of a self-advocate and trends in the regulatory environments will also be covered.
