Cancer: Thriving & Surviving is a six-week workshop for individuals who have been affected by cancer and their caregivers. The goal of the program is to help participants build a more positive outlook about their experience and improve their state-of-mind and overall health.
Topics to be discussed include communicating effectively with family, friends, and healthcare professionals; how to make appropriate decisions about treatment and complementary therapies; and coping with negative emotions such as feelings of isolation, frustration, and uncertainty. Additional topics will include managing pain, poor sleep, and the benefits of exercise to help increase flexibility and endurance. - Two doses of HPV vaccine are recommended for boys and girls at ages 11-12, but can be given starting at age 9 years.
- HPV vaccination provides safe, effective, and long-lasting protection.

World No Tobacco Day!
Every year, May 31st is designated World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) by the World Health Organization to raise awareness and highlight the health consequences associated with tobacco use and encourage governments to adopt effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) kill more people than any other cause of death worldwide, and tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure contribute to approximately 12% of all heart disease deaths. Tobacco use is the second leading cause of CVD, after high blood pressure.
