The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission administers three annual grant programs for Somerset County:

Local Arts Program

The State/County Partnership Local Arts Program Grant (LAP) enables the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA) to support local arts development within each of New Jersey’s 21 counties through a competitive grant application process by awarding funds to officially designated county arts agencies (CAAs).   

County History Partnership Program Grant

The County History Partnership Program (CHPP) was created in 2015 by the New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) to extend the administration of local re-granting programs to all of the state’s 21 counties.  This program enables the NJHC to support existing and emerging local history organizations, and other eligible non-profit organizations providing history projects, programs, services to benefit diverse public audiences.  

Historic Preservation Grant Program 

The Historic Preservation Grant Program is administered by the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission with assistance from County Planning Board staff. Eligible applicants for funds from the program are Somerset County government, municipal governments within Somerset County and non-profit organizations as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code of 1986 whose purpose includes historic preservation.
