The Somerset County Road and Bridge Divisions performs ground applications of herbicides for vegetation control. These applications take place along the county highway system. Both the state and federal governments approve the herbicides and spraying equipment utilized to perform this task.   The areas treated are those that are labor intensive to maintain as well as safety sensitive areas along our highway system that need this type of application.  Ground applications are performed on a regular basis as needed from April 1st  through December 31st.   Monthly notices are posted in the local media for the duration of the application season.
