Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road (CR 601) and Grandview Road, Intersection Improvements, Left Turn Lane, Montgomery Township

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road (CR 601) is classified as an Urban Major Collector and provides one lane of travel in each direction. The posted speed limit along Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road is 50 mph. The intersection of Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road (CR 601) and Grandview Road is a three-way, unsignalized intersection controlled by a stop sign on Grandview Road. The project area begins just north of the at-grade railroad crossing, approximately 400 feet south of Grandview Road, and continues north for approximately 900 feet, ending about 500 feet north of Grandview Road at County Bridge D0303. The project area also extends approximately 400 feet southwest along Grandview Road from its intersection with CR 601.

The Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road (CR 601) and Grandview Road Intersection project involves widening the roadway to the east and west along Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road. This widening is necessary to construct an 11-foot wide, 75-foot long left-turn lane from Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road northbound onto Grandview Road and to provide a 255-foot taper at the south approach and a 330-foot taper at the north approach to match the existing roadway width at the reconstruction limits. The guiderail along the east side of the roadway at the railroad crossing’s north approach will also be replaced as part of this project.
