Somerset County, in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), conducted a Local Concept Development (LCD) Study for the rehabilitation or replacement of County Bridge No. C0609 carrying Picket Place (CR 567) over the South Branch of Raritan River, located between Branchburg and Hillsborough townships.
The County of Somerset, through a federally funded Local Capital Project Delivery (LCPD) Program administered by New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Local Aid District 3 and in close coordination with North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), have undertaken the replacement of Picket Place Bridge to address structural deficiencies to provide a safe and efficient bridge crossing in conformance with current AASHTO, NJDOT and Somerset County design standards and policies.
The Local Concept Development (LCD) phase of the LCPD Program for the replacement of Picket Place Bridge has been recently completed and the project has been approved to advance to the Local Preliminary Engineering (LPE) phase. Detailed engineering and technical environmental studies will be conducted in this phase to obtain Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approval of the environmental document, in order to qualify for Federal funds for Final Design and Construction phases.
For the Request For Proposal solicitation for LPE phase, please refer to the Notice of RFP #CY-COM-9003-23 on the Division of Purchasing's webpage. [RFP released 8-16-2023]
