Plan Background
The Walk Bike Hike: Connecting Vibrant Communities Plan was finalized in July 2019, and is a Framework Strategy designed to improve multimodal mobility and safety for Somerset County travelers of all ages and abilities. The findings and candidate improvements of the Framework Strategy will guide the development of convenient, equitable, and interconnected travel routes, facilities, and networks, over time, and in a collaborative manner. It includes more than 220 candidate walk, bike, and hike improvements, totaling almost 275 miles of new facilities across Somerset County.

A companion Design Book was prepared to supplement the Framework Plan with design guidance to help advance bicycle and pedestrian improvements in Somerset County. The Design Book is intended as a resource for Somerset County Planning, Engineering, and Parks, elected officials, municipalities, planning partners, and the public.
This project was funded by a grant from the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority.
Walk, Bike, and Hike Study Public Meeting #2
Somerset County hosted the second public meeting for the Walk, Bike, Hike Somerset County: Connecting Vibrant Communities Plan on April 11, 2019 at the Somerset County Administration Building. At this meeting, a summary of the draft County-wide framework, community engagement summary, technical assessment summary and draft pattern book- design guide were presented.

Walk, Bike, and Hike Study Public Meeting #1
Somerset County hosted the first public meeting for the Walk, Bike, Hike Somerset County: Connecting Vibrant Communities Plan on November 29th 2018 at the Somerset County Administration Building.
